He turned off the smoking machine while packing the food, saying, “I have a mission tomorrow; all of this is prepared for you. It won’t spoil in your storage.”
Tong Sui asked, “Do you have to go tomorrow?”
Jiang Hua replied, “Yes.”
Tong Sui didn’t expect Jiang Hua to be assigned another mission so soon. He thought he’d have at least a few more days of rest. But considering what he heard from Lou Yelin today, it seemed that the base’s food supplies couldn’t last much longer.
After packing all the lunch boxes, he also brought out the bag of fruit Tong Sui had seen when he first entered. He swiftly washed, cut, and portioned it; he had clearly given thorough consideration to everything for Tong Sui.
“Put it in storage.”
“Oh.”
Tong Sui hesitated for a few seconds before opening his space ring and said, “You really didn’t have to go through so much trouble; the research institute provides meals too.”
Jiang Hua said, “It’s not nutritious enough. I don’t want to come back from a mission and see you have lost a lot of weight because you’re picky with food.”
Tong Sui responded, “…”
He indeed didn’t understand when he developed such a picky eating habit.
After finishing what he had to do, Jiang Hua removed his apron and picked up a box from the table.
He opened it and took out a gun.
“This is prepared for you. It’s lightweight but powerful; give it a try.”
However, Tong Sui’s attention wasn’t on the gun.
Although in the original plot Jiang Hua wasn’t supposed to get infected so soon, he still felt uneasy.
He said, “What if I go with you? It’s too dangerous outside. My mental abilities could help a bit.”
Jiang Hua replied, “You don’t trust me?”
“Not that, I’m worried about you,” Tong Sui said. “After the red rain, there’s been massive plant mutation. The dangers outside the base have increased significantly.”
“Don’t worry; this mission is quite simple,” Jiang Hua said. “I’ll be back in no more than two weeks.”
“…Alright.”
After all, Jiang Hua was a high-ranking lightning ability user, and simple missions shouldn’t pose much of a problem for him.
Tong Sui lowered his gaze, focusing on the gun Jiang Hua had given him.
This handgun felt different from regular ones. It seemed modified, and upon disassembling it, he confirmed his suspicions.
It was apparent that Jiang Hua had put much thought into choosing it for him.
Tong Sui carefully stored the gun, saying, “Thank you; I will use this for protection.”
“Also, there’s this,” Jiang Hua pulled out a black communicator. “If anything happens, you can contact me through this.”
Tong Sui replied, “Okay.”
Jiang Hua nodded, “You should eat; I’ll go take a shower first.”
“Uh-huh.”
Tong Sui enjoyed the hot meal.
He initially thought Jiang Hua would have a cold personality in this world, but he was surprised by his meticulous nature. Not only did he prepare ingredients for him, knowing he wouldn’t cook, but he also busied himself all day to portion it out properly.
Tong Sui thought to himself.
He must quickly develop the cure for the zombies.
Moreover, with Jiang Hua leaving for an extended time, he needed to stock up on all the samples today.
That evening, after showering, Tong Sui brought the swabs and sampling tubes from the lab and knocked on Jiang Hua’s door.
Dressed in loose pajamas, with slightly damp hair, he looked like a little lamb sent to the door.
“May I come in?”
Jiang Hua pulled him inside and effortlessly closed the door behind them.
His eyes were dark.
If he could, he would want to keep Tong Sui by his side forever, not wanting to separate for even a moment… but the dangers outside were too high, and he didn’t want to keep making Tong Sui endure hardships.
Jiang Hua leaned down and kissed him, the kiss lingering, as if trying to convey some love that words could not express.
He would leave tomorrow morning.
And according to the estimated distance, it would be at least two weeks before he could return.
Tong Sui’s eyes became hazy, and the tears on his eyelashes sparkled like stars.
Jiang Hua lovingly wiped them away.
He lost track of time.
Tong Sui’s lips were swollen from the kisses, red as if血, the fragile petals tingling and burning, nearing the edge of asphyxiation multiple times.
He reached out, “Don’t kiss me anymore…”
He felt like a naive little cat, thinking that if he flopped onto the ground and showed his white, fluffy belly, he could win sympathy from the fierce beast that had long desired him.
But he didn’t realize that this behavior would only stimulate even more inflated desires, making the beast gently grip the flesh at the back of his neck, claiming him and hiding him deep in its lair.
He marked Tong Sui, leaving traces all over him.
Tong Sui’s skin was fair and delicate.
All the various colors looked particularly beautiful on a flawless piece of white jade.
Jiang Hua lacked artistic sensibility.
But he delighted in sculpting this unique gem.
Tong Sui couldn’t remember how many times he buried his head into the soft pillow, not wanting Jiang Hua to see his expression in such a moment. But he was always forced to reveal his face by a large hand cupping his chin.
He met Jiang Hua’s deep eyes.
It felt as though all the inexplicable light would be absorbed into that dark abyss.
Heat gathered at the corners of Tong Sui’s eyes, reddening his nose as well.
Yet Jiang Hua enjoyed every emotion that Tong Sui displayed because of him. He wished he could hold Tong Sui in his hands, keep him in his mouth or weave an exquisite web, waiting for him to stumble into the trap.
He would meticulously admire the colors of feathers refracting in the sunlight, lavish with his compliments, while silently tightening the web.
Feeling a bit dazed, something icy was suddenly placed into his palm.
